In his book - The Church of Mary Magdalene - Markale makes two statements. Does anyone have any more information on them? They are as follows:

On p46 - "There was a consequence to the Gelis affair that did not appear immediately ... from precise testimonies we know that someone was blackmailing him: the tutor Jamet, who was also the town clerk. It has been proved that Beranger paid him in money and jewelry to keep silent'. Is this correct?
And on page 193 - 'The only time she [Marie Denarnaud] betrayed the confidence of Sauniere was when she revealed a hiding place to the new owner of the home, Noel Corbu. It was empty however.'
If anyone has any information i would love to read it ....
